A reminder that the community of Dunsmuir passed a permanent fireworks ban last year. No Fireworks are allowed within Dunsmuir city limits. EVER!
Siskiyou County has also permanently banned personal Fireworks in all unincorporated areas. So, no fireworks are allowed within the entire Dunsmuir area.
These permanent bans were put in place due to Dunsmuir’s extreme wildfire risk and the incredibly high number of wildfires sparked by Fireworks each year.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) estimates that in the United States, 19,500 fires are started each year from Fireworks.
If you see someone setting off Fireworks, please call 911 to report the incident so that the ban can be enforced. Stay vigilant and help ensure our town has a wildfire-free 4th of July.
