SAVE THE DATE: The Dunsmuir Castella Fire District and the City of Dunsmuir will test the Evacuation Siren sound on Friday, May 2nd, at 6:00 PM.
The test is to ensure the evacuation siren tone works properly and to familiarize the community with its sound. You don't need to do anything with the test, but we encourage you to sign up for Ready Siskiyou Alerts.
The Evacuation Siren sound test will last for two minutes.
10 Minutes before the Evacuation Siren Test, a Ready Siskiyou Alert will be sent to residents who have signed up for the Alerts. CLICK HERE to sign up now!
KEY THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT A REAL-LIFE EVACUATION EVENT
The Evacuation Siren will only sound when an Evacuation Order is issued for the City of Dunsmuir. The Siren will not sound for an Evacuation Warning.
The evacuation siren tone is a 2-second on, 2-second off pattern that repeats for two full minutes. This tone will sound faster than the fire call signal and last much longer, long enough for you to check Ready Siskiyou, so you know where to go.
In a real-life evacuation event, the evacuation siren will sound for two minutes and then shut off, and it will not repeat.
