12 Properties receive Volunteer help ahead of Green Waste Day

Fourteen volunteers from CORE, Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center, and the McConnell Foundation converged on Dunsmuir yesterday to assist property owners with wildfire mitigation work on their properties ahead of Saturday’s Green Waste Day.

Seventeen properties were signed up for assistance, and volunteers were able to get to twelve properties in total. The remaining 5 have been added to the next planned Volunteer Day in October, along with a few waitlisted people, so the October event is almost full already!

If you need volunteer assistance on your property, email hazmit@ci.dunsmuir.ca.us

CAL FIRE will be arriving in Dunsmuir tomorrow to chip some of the volunteer piles created yesterday.

And on Saturday, May 3rd (RAIN OR SHINE, and it looks like RAIN!), we will host Green Waste Day from 8 AM to 3 PM in the Baseball Field Parking Lot (4841 Dunsmuir Ave). You can come and drop off your Green Waste for free!

Volunteers will also provide pickup for people without vehicles or the ability to transport Green Waste themselves. So far, sixteen people have signed up for this type of assistance. If you need your green waste picked up for Green Waste Day, call 530-925-5420.

We will likely have to cap pickup once we hit 25 sign-ups based on Volunteer availability. If you want to volunteer to help pick up green waste, call 530-925-5420.
