August 31, 2021 Weekly report

1) Public Works: we were out one employee this week due to his commitment to the Dunsmuir Fire Department; roadside maintenance Scherrer Ave, Sacramento Av, Siskiyou Av Guard rail, Timber Dr, Grover St, and Edith St.;  received a bid for the installation of new irrigation timer at the Childrens Park; set goal posts with Dunsmuir High School,; set up and took down traffic closures devices  for the movie production; cleaned trucks; ran sweeper; watered lawns; collected trash;  responded to emails and phone calls.

 2) City Manager: received approval from Union Pacific for the placement of “Patty’s Tree” across from the Brown Trout; meeting with CalTrans for the kickoff of the City’s Active Transportation Plan; finalized Rod & Gun Club lease; coordination with movie production company regarding street closures and contract to pay for any staff time expended in support of the shoot; worked with CalFire, UP, Dunsmuir Fire regarding train derailment at the Cantera Loop; discussions with potential Public Works Director candidate; completion of Prop 218 notices for potential water and sewer increases; spoke to Solid Waste Ad Hoc committee applicants; called UP for update on review of plans for the Mossbrae Trail-still under review; attended DPAC Meeting; issued airport closure to allow contractors to complete work on the runway; worked to finalize solid waste agreement; meeting with Weed’s city manager about enforcement of their vacant and distressed building ordinance; meeting with CalTrans on 800’ Bridge; Lot Design Standards agenda item work; code enforcement issues; meeting with Parks & Recreation about renewal of their contract.

 3) Wastewater Dept: plant operations training of new operator; daily and weekly plant testing completed; poured sludge beds; plant washed and equipment maintenance completed; replaced bad hydraulic fitting on backhoe; called vendor about the replacement of a moisture censor for headworks mixer; annual plant flow meters calibration completed; maintenance of #1 filter location censors; replaced pre cl2 sample pump; replaced batteries in alarm auto dialers; all lift stations and manholes checked and cleaned.

 4) Water Dept: Made repairs on system master flow meter; installed more automatic meter readers; Eagle Paving did trench paving in various locations for SNL; several new water mains were completed and put on line.

 5) Finance: Accounts payable; accounts receivable; payroll; utility billing payment processing; covid fund research; water project change order processed; CDBG grant paperwork.

 6) Fire Department: For the period, the department responded to (16) dispatches, (10) EMS, (1) other type fire, (1) Structure Fire, (1) Vegetation Fire, (1) traffic accident, (1) Hazardous situation, (1) Public Assistance;

Weekly Fire Department training-Fire personnel reviewed EMS skills and maintained EMS equipment; all equipment and apparatus remain in good working order; entered run reports into computer data base; currently (1) fire department engine with personnel is assisting CAL-Fire with station coverage in the County, (1) department engine was returned from the River Complex Fire after a 14-day assignment. Our staffing levels are still adequate to respond to our daily dispatches.
