On August 20th 2021 the city received an order imposing water right curtailment. This means the city is not able to draw water from our source springs above a certain amount. City petitioned State to increase this limit based on “health and human safety.” On December 13th 2021, city was notified by state that our petition was approved with the following conditions;

  • be used solely for human health and safety needs

  • be carried out in accordance with Dunsmuir municipal code 13.06. (click this link for the full municipal code). in general, the municipal code limits water use to only human health and safety needs (i.e. limit outdoor watering, etc.)

When the State imposes curtailment, users of the city water system will be required to operate under muni code 13.06 conservation provisions.
