City Manager Activities

December 10, 2021

Participated in Mossbrae Falls team meetings identifying issues and potential solutions.

Participated in Butterfly Bridge team meetings identifying issues and potential solutions. Waiting to sign project area map until outreach to UP regarding staging area is complete.  Scheduled January 20th meeting to discuss issues regarding the potential discovery of hazardous materials on west approach to bridge. 

Conducted calls with many citizens regarding many different issues of their origin.

Met with a few citizens regarding a few different issues of their origin.

Met and communicated with some members of DPAC.

Tried to organize a conference call among key people involved in disaster relief.

Reviewed parts of the Siskiyou County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Began working on procedures and protocols for implementation of the abandoned and distressed property code.  Identified issues.  Invited staff to provide their issues and solutions. 

Dealt with code enforcement issues regarding child protective services.

Dealt with code enforcement issues regarding securing nuisance structures.

Reviewed insurance consultants suggested covid protocols.  Discussed protocols with Finance Director.  Closed city hall twice due to covid.  

Provided comments to Siskiyou County regarding rezone adjoining Mott airport. 

Spoke with city attorney on 5 occasions regarding different issues.

Scheduled public works supervisor interviews.  Cancelled them.  Rescheduled and conducted them. 

Continued negotiations for public works director.  Terminated negotiations with candidate.

Held meetings with utilities maintenance staff to identify needs and prioritize for short term and long term. 

Communicated several times with public works staff regarding snow removal and snow removal policy.

Communicated with more than 8 different individuals regarding one cannabis proposal.

Communicated many times with other cannabis permit holder and associated individuals.

Began addressing training of city hall staff.  Asked staff to identify training needs.  Sought out training opportunities for staff.  Suggested some training for staff. 

Established city council agendas with city council members.

Created Solid Waste Committee agenda template.  Worked with city council to establish meeting agenda.  

With staff, terminated two airport leases.  Signed two leases.  

Met with Police Chief, tow services company and code enforcement. Spoke with owner of tow company about issues.

Had minor discussions with Police Chief.

Communicated with union representative. Discussed opening union contract negotiations. 

Met with union representative and agreed to communicate at the end of January about laying out process and timelines for union contract negotiations.

Toured airport with staff.

Toured sewage treatment facilities with staff. 

Assisted Fire Chief and staff with preparing staff report, MOU, and city council resolution for mutual aid agreement.

Assisted Finance Director with identifying appropriate cannabis license fees, writing staff report. 

Reviewed MOU regarding needle drop box site in Dunsmuir.  Communicated with about history and elements.  Made suggested changes.

Reviewed properties owned by the city. Identified opportunities for future pocket parks with river access.  Conducted site visits to properties identifying current uses, encroachments, conditions, potential for future use. 

Reviewed some lease and rental agreements the city is party to.

Researched state directions on mass gatherings.  Reviewed other examples of mass gatherings.  Identified some steps in process for developing code regarding events.  

Participated in Dunsmuir Care Team updates.

Requested budget information from the Parks and Recreation District.

Notified Water Control Board that in lieu of curtailment the city enforce local water conservation measures.

Signed extension of contract with USGS for gauging.

Approved encroachments. 

Reviewed Tank Project bid recommendation, staff report.
