Last night at City Council, the City of Dunsmuir and Dunsmuir Firewise group honored Denise Willey and Giselle Nova as the newest inductees into the Dunsmuir Hall of Flames.
The Hall of Flames began last year when Dunsmuir celebrated becoming the 900th Firewise Community in the State and the First in Siskiyou County. The Hall of Flames honors citizens who have consistently dedicated their time to making Dunsmuir a fire-resilient community.
Densie Willey has volunteered countless hours with Dunsmuir Firewise, donating her time and her truck to make the Dunsmuir Green Waste Days a successful event. Denise also runs the Dunsmuir Fire Watch Facebook page and is a Firewise Neighborhood Captain, connecting residents to resources to help them reduce their wildfire risk.
Giselle Nova has been with the Siskiyou County Fire Safe Council since its inception two decades ago. She has worked tirelessly to secure millions of dollars in grant funding for not only Dunsmuir but also Siskiyou County. Giselle and the Fire Safe Council have supported Dunsmuir’s efforts to become a Firewise community.
