Dunsmuir Wildfire Mitigation Project to start in September

The Fire Safe Council of Siskiyou County’s wildfire mitigation project, which is focused on the east side of the Sacramento River, is gearing up to start the first week of September.

The contractor completing the work (Summitt Forests) will begin contacting people who have signed up for the free work within the next two weeks. The work will start near the southern end of South 1st Street, and work its way northward within the project focus area.

The project focus area is the entire east side of the Sacramento River from the Shasta County Line, up to Tauhindauli Park, including streets like South 1st, Mican, Butterfly, and River, and all other streets on that side of the river.

If you haven’t signed up and want the free wildfire mitigation work, and are within that project area, you must sign up NOW! There will be information and sign-up sheets available at the Dunsmuir Wildfire Preparedness Workshop from 530-730 pm, TONIGHT! (Friday, August 15th).

Join us to learn more about this project and another wildfire mitigation project that is coming to Dunsmuir. And if you can’t make it, you can always stop by City Hall (5915 Dunsmuir Ave) to learn more.
