Green Waste Day participation nearly DOUBLES!

Green Waste Days continue to grow!

We had 80 separate properties participate in Spring Green Waste Day! That's ALMOST DOUBLE the 46 properties that participated last fall!

There were 136 separate trips made (most of them pickup trucks and trailers full of green waste).

Prior to compaction, we estimated that 476 cubic yards of vegetation were removed, or 12,852 cubic feet! This number does not include the material collected on the Volunteer Day (Monday, April 28th) and chipped by CAL FIRE in the week leading up to the event.

A special thank you to Firewise Neighborhood Captain Sue Lang for volunteering for the event on her Birthday! And to the AmeriCorps volunteers who drove all the way up from Chico State to help us out!

Our pickup truck drivers were also a HUGE help, providing green waste transportation for those unable to transport it themselves. Starla, Denise, Paul/Lynda, Sue/Buck, and Josh! Thank you!

Thank you to all our local volunteers, including a student from the Dunsmuir High School, Siskiyou County Fire Safe Council, CAL FIRE, Siskiyou County, Mt. Shasta BioRegional Ecology Center, McConnell Foundation, and AmeriCorps.

SAVE THE DATE FOR THE NEXT GREEN WASTE DAY! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25TH! And start working on that yard now, to take full advantage of the event this fall!

As these events continue to grow, so does our need for volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering for the next green waste day, email Stephen at sdecatur@ci.dunsmuir.ca.us

We can’t do it with you!
