Shasta-Trinity National Forest begins prescribed fires as favorable weather conditions in place for hazardous fuels reduction work
Redding, CA Nov 14, 2025— The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations this Monday, November 17, 2025. We estimate this work to continue through Friday, November 21, 2025, as weather conditions allow and pending all required approvals. We use prescribed fires to help reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires.
Prescribed fires planned for the area include:

McCloud RD - Lower McCloud (Beartrap) Pile Rx, near the Cabin Creek Trailhead south of the community of McCloud. (100 acres)

McCloud RD - McFalls Landing Piles, north of the McCloud River Loop (8 acres)
•
Mt. Shasta RD - Azalea Landing Pile Rx, east of Mount Shasta City (15 acres)
•
Mt. Shasta RD - Everitt Machine Pile Rx, off Everitt Memorial Highway near McBride Springs Campground (20 acres)
•
Mt. Shasta RD - McBride Landing Piles, north of Mount Shasta City along Everitt Memorial Highway (11 acres)
• Shasta Lake RD – I-5 (Skyline) Pile Rx (piles created through partnership with Western Shasta RCD and a Forest Health Grant funded by the state of California), multiple sites along Interstate 5 between Packers Bay and Antlers Bridge (290 acres)

Weaverville RD – Ridgeville Pile Rx, south of the Ridgeville and Estrellita communities near Trinity Lake (100 acres)

Yolla Bolla RD – Red Mountain Pile Rx, south of State Route 36 (213 acres)
