October 18th, 2021 Weekly report

1) Public Works: Removal of brush: from the library and behind City Hall; cleaned cemetery; replace signpost; installed period light post; ordered hot water heater for Sherriff's Dep;, training on chipper for Recreation Dept; Ordered a forklift for Tuahindauli project; blacktopping and pothole repair; annual fire extinguisher inspection completed; weed eating along Sacramento Ave; replaced brooms on sweeper; helped CSO surplus trucks 400 and 401; locates for power pole replacement project; setup street light repair with Diversified Electric; loaded dumpster with debris and had it hauled away; replaced airport locks; cleaned trucks; mowed lawn;, collected trash; ran sweeper; checked emails and answered phone calls.

 2) City Manager: ICMA City Manager Conference in Portland; meeting with FAA regarding grant for the preliminary engineering for the north taxiway and apron; roof repair estimates for the library; cancellation of hangar lease with problem pilot; jurisdictional partners meeting with Siskiyou Economic Development; issues related to planting of Patty’s Tree; meeting with Jacobs and CalTrans on progress on Butterfly Bridge; CARES Grant paperwork closeout; revisions to Active Transportation Plan submittal completed and transmitted to CalTrans; conference call with UP (Benesch) and Mt Shasta Trails Association regarding findings from recent site visit-final items that need to be addressed before plans are stamped; water/sewer rates town hall; title and escrow ordered for purchase of Children’s Park; meeting with Parks and Rec about extension of their contract in order to apply for Prop 68 Grant; running list of projects completed for hand-off to Jefferson(Jeff)  Spencer; training with Interim City Manager; meeting with Sheriff’s Office about potential new South County precinct in Dunsmuir.

 3) Wastewater Dept: Continued daily, weekly sampling and monitoring ( minor process adjustments as weather changes); continued with O.I.T. training ( Mark ); inspected target manholes and lift station weekly's ; locates for PP&l contractor  ( pole replacement );worked around plant grounds; general maintenance.

 4) Water Dept: Continued with contractor on water main replacement; assisted with tie-ins;  continued locating water lines along Simpson Ave.; locates for PP&L contractor; weekly springs checks-all in good order; Simpson Ave. is now online; .three new fire hydrants installed; started seasonal cleanup as contractor preparing for winter shut down; started on Blacksmith Hill pipe replacement; worked with Pace on drought grant; to replace 10" water main on Shasta View; will be summitting for construction funding early next week.

 5) Finance: Accounts payable; accounts receivable; payroll, utility billing, audit prep.

 6) Fire Department: . For the period, the department responded to (27) dispatches, (17) EMS, (2) Public Assist and (3) Traffic accident, (1) Structure Fire, (3) Other type fires, (1) Hazardous Condition; Weekly fire department training: No In person training was conducted this week, personnel have been instructed to use “Target Solutions” for virtual training; all equipment and apparatus are in good working order; entered run reports into computer data base and submitted quarterly reports to the State Fire Marshall’s Office; (1) fire department engine with our personnel is committed to the KNP Fire in Tulare County.
